Thanks everyone! I used Becker 2011 & Wiley for my studying. I went through the Becker lecture, following along in the Becker review book. Then I read the Wiley module(s) that corresponded to the Becker lecture. Next, I did the Becker MCQs and then did the Wiley MCQs. I took notes based on the MCQs that I got wrong or the ones I knew I would not easily remember (formulas, etc). I did this for each Becker lecture and then for the final 2 week review I did all Becker questions again and then did all Wiley MCQs again. I also went online and read more on internal control and variance analysis since I knew those two areas were heavily tested (even though I didnt get any formula questions on variance analysis) Hope this helps!

What finally worked for me was Roger CPA. Although I've not been professionally diagnosed I believe I have ADD and cannot for the life of me concentrate beyond 15 minutes in reading. So what I did was watch the lectures and write notes on a notepad using different color pens. Give it a quick read then start doing MCQ immediately. If it is a difficult topic I go and read the book. I would know it is difficult because I would do poorly on the MCQ or see myself having to guess a lot.
From there I move on to the next topic. If it is a short topic I finish it and do MCQ on it and on all the previous topics. The key to me is to keep doing MCQ on the current and previous topics as to keep the info constantly fresh in your mind. Eventually it gets to the point where you only doing nothing but MCQ. At which point I setup my practice questions sessions as random topics. This helps with the actual exam setup.
My score history was like this, FAR 71 then 80 (that was before I discovered Roger). Then Aud, first attempt was 73 again before Roger and I had some personal circumstances that didn't allow me to study on a regular schedule. Just to show how easy it was to pass the CPA exam in the first Qtr of 2011 because of the new format I took that Aud exam and I couldn't tell you what opinion to issue on what situation and yet I managed to score a 73.
Then after discovering Roger, but it was borrowed material from a friend, I got a 72 this was a shocker because I really thought I did well. So I bought the CRAM course and I did 1536 MCQ for practice. I played games with myself. If I wanted to go out with friends for the weekend then I needed to do a certain amount of questions in order to be able to do so. This resulted in 93 for Aud. I sat for the exam 5 weeks after I found out I failed Aud.
In Apr and May of 2011 I toll BEC & REG but really without much studying as I had an expiring NTS. So I scored 71 on each. After I eventually passed AUD I studied for REG & BEC with Roger following the method above for a month each and managed to get 79 with REG and 77 with BEC. Now, I did well studying for REG because I passed the Enrolled Agent exam a while ago and my practice is tax. So I guess if you need someone to do your taxes contact me :).
My REG score card had me at strong at the tax sections and weak or comparable on the biz law section, which I struggled with since school. As for BEC, I did exceptionally well in finance courses in grad school so that with taking Aud before BEC it made it easy to pass it. Hope this helps and good luck all!!!!!

All done...well at least I hope. Just
took my last section of the exam. I
spent most of my final review days mastering variances
and what
happens? Not 1 calculation question on it! I guess it's
better to be
prepared than be surprised, huh? I was actually
surprised to find out that
about 80% of my exam was theory and not calculations.
MCQs were
mostly on IT, COSO and Econ, with maybe 5% on a
combination of
budgeting and cost. Of course every exam will have a
different mix, but
there was nothing on the exam that looked foreign or
difficult. I used
Becker 2011 and the Wiley online test bank. Actually
about 7 of the
questions from Wiley test bank were on my exam and most
of the
questions on the exam were about the same difficulty as
Wiley. I would
definitely recommend spending the $50-$70 on the online
test bank...it
was definitely what prepared me the most.
Good luck to everyone. It was definitely not as
difficult as the other
exams, in my opinion. |

Where did you get the Wiley test bank for $50-70?
I would like to do the same!
CONGRATS!!! :)
