The problem is, if you were to actually become a CMA,
CIA, and CPA and hold the certifications simultaneously
you would be spending upwards of $700 a year MINIMUM. Now
the CPA and CIA you can "suspend" or temporarily retire
but the CMA you must pay them every single year and
cannot suspend membership without being forced to take
the exam again, which is how I read their forums and
guidelines.... So given a limited amount of money, the
CMA is the worst choice, because of the HIGH fees, over
$250, and the most important reasons the CMA is weak is
BECAUSE IT IS NOT ON JOB ANNOUNCEMENTS.... JOB
announcements with Big 4, government, and everywhere else
I see CPA, CIA, CISA, but RARELY do I ever see CMA..
there is a reason, it does not have the same clout,
respect, or legitimacy as the other Certifications. So
why is a designation that RARELY is on job announcements
as a "preferred qualification" charging close to the same
amount for CPA Dues? Are they clueless or what? I do
not care how tough their exam is, if its not on job
announcements and has no flexibility in allowing members
to suspend membership to avoid the 250+ fee the cert is
weak and inferior.

Dear Alcohen,

I fully respect your opinion. However, I myself have done ACCA, MBA, CMA, CIA, CCSA, PMP, CISA and CFE.

CMA part 4 used to be a highly rigourous exam. The reason being it used to cover whole syllabus.

CMA has adopted a wrong strategy. It is now only targetting old experienced accountants who want to get some certification to add with their names. But the real market should be the new young students who should be convinced to choose CMA as a sole qualification to persue their career. Regretfully, no one now considers CMA as sole qualification. It can be a good combination if you are already a CPA or ACCA or CA.

As compared to this CIMA or CMA canada are sole qualifications.

Trust me, IMA is in a business battle since Jeff joined. The first step was to remove IFAC membership. 2nd to cut the parts to attract more customers.

My question to all who are happy with 2 parts is what if IMA makes it one part tomorrow? New qualifiers will still claim that it is still hard. Will youstill be  satiffied ????

Best regards
