Hi everyone,

I have failed BEC twice in a row now with a 74. Does anyone have any advice on what to do to get the extra point(s)?  I'm using Yaeger (Wiley book).

I like the Gleim test bank, simulation wizard and audios. You have the basic knowledge...focus on doing all the sims and MCQs you can get your hands on and really understand WHY you got each question wrong...and right!! Good luck!

Here's a tip.... don't worry about what to do to get the "extra points." Worry about what to do to get 75 more points!

The AICPA is very clever with giving you completely different exams every time. Start from scratch and review everything as if you failed miserably. There's no such thing as overkill with these exams. Study as much as you possibly can. Review all the topics and keep practicing questions until you get sick.

Good luck!

I recently passed my final part of the exam.  Here are some tips that I found useful that may help:

* I am a big fan of Becker - if you can afford it get the entire system - if not then at minimum pick up used texts and get practice questions from Wiley or some other source.

* I reviewed the content outline of each section and decided which material was the easiest to learn that equaled about 50% of the test.  For example in AUD I felting the audit report was pretty easy (its all cut and dry - order of paragraphs, sentences that must be present, etc).  These topics I studied heavily!  The other topics I studied enough to do reasonable on practice questions (~75 to 80%)

* The AICPA allows a candidate to get free access to the Accounting Standards Codification.  Pick up a Wiley book and practice looking up the simulation research questions.

* Practice the SIMS!!  Specifically the type that is NOT another form of multiple choice.  For example - study problems that require journal entries.

* If your test is early - set a manual alarm clock (yes, I missed a test because the power went out less then 10 minutes before I was to wake up).

* Always keep in mind the content outline.  Yeah - there is a chance that a question on say the LIFO Retail Sales method (which to me is quite complicated) may come up but do not study that until you have a working knowledge of governmental accounting.  Why?  The content outline states it WILL be tested (8 to 12% of the exam).
