If somebody could answer as soon as possible I would

Accum. E&P beg. of 2009: 40000
Current E&P entire 2009: -55000
Cash ditributed on July 1: 15000
Could please somebody explain why the amount of dividends
is: $12500
and return basis $2500
Accum E&P for beg of 2010 -27500
Why do we have to calculate the amount of dividends like
this 40000- 1/2(55000)=12500?

hope this reaches you in time
for CEP you have to allocate prorata and since there are 2 distributions you allocate 27,500 now and 27,500 later. AEP is not allocated prorata and used all up like a first come first serve type thing.
so in the first distribution you have positive AEP of 40,000 and negative CEP of 27,500 which nets to 12,500 left for a possible divd. the distribution is 15,000 and you can only count 12,500 of it as a divd and the rest is return of capital of 2,500

Hey NoLife: Nice to see those passing grades...and only FAR left I see! When are you planning to take that one? I sat for REG today and it was BRUTAL! I'm hoping for a pass..and then FAR in August. Who knows...after all this we could both be done in the July/August window! Isn't that a hoot!!!! =)

hi score!
glad to see you back in the fight and hope your health has gotten better from last time. i hear you on REG, that exam is brutal, esp the sims which i believe prevented me from passing the last few times. i'm planning on taking FAR in july or aug, i need to pass it by end of aug or i lose my AUD credit. hopefully we can get this over with in a couple of months and rejoin life
