Virginia requires one year of experience in accounting or a related field. The experience does not have to be specifically in public accounting. Virginia accepts experience from employment in government, private industry, academic, or public accounting. There is an experience verification form that has to be completed and submitted. This information is listed in the Virginia Code for professions and occupations, which you can access through the Virginia Board of Accountancy's website.

Does anybody know if you need a CPA to sign off on your work verification form? I work for a private firm, but the Controller of the company is not a CPA - will he be able to sign off on my work experience form?

I need advice from those who have New York state license and those who might have transfer from other state to New York. What those it take to be license in New YorkState? Should I get license in New Mexico before transferring it to New York or should I transfer my pass score first, then complete the process with New York?

Quick Question Guys!
I currently work as a banker/financial advisor which kinda meets the requirements of Maryland's "Report of Practical Work Experience" under the definition of "....providing any type of services or advice using accounting, attest, management advisory, financial advisory, tax or consulting skills..." most importantly the "financial Advisory" part. I dont have any actual "accounting" experience but my job description does satisfy their "definition". But I do not have a CPA as management, not even 2-3 levels up the ladder(for Citigroup in Branch Banking). So how can I get a CPA to sign off on this? My employer can sign but she is not a CPA. How can this be done? Any suggestions or comments? Thanks!!!
