Thanks going4it and Nan-LA,

My morale was down. I have exactly 3 more tries before I lose audit (including the on ein July) and my biggest fear is losing credit.

Congratualtions going4it for passing the CPA. It gives me hope that I will pass the second time around since I am studying hard and I only missed it by one point. I am using the same material (Wiley) but added Yaeger Cram to supplment the material.

Quick general question for those who got 74's on BEC.

1) Did you pass/fail the second time you took it
2) What did you do differently to get you over the edge?

Thanks

Becker.  Got the whole package - Self-study CD course, flashcards, and Final Review Course.

I barely had time to make notes on the preprinted flashcards, so making my own flashcards from scratch was out of the question.  Plus the preprinted cards were easier to read than my handwriting.

Got the Final Review course as an afterthought, but talked the Becker sales rep into selling it to me at the discounted price for "Buy it with your initial purchase".  (Those guys must work on commission.)  Snarled at the additional price for Final Review, but figured it was cheaper than a re-take, and certainly cost me less in time and agony.

Yeah, I know it was expensive.  I had to pay it out of my own pocket, but I had some help.

Nan, can you compare how the actual exam was like compared to the Becker MCQ's?

All the Becker MCQs seem to be either AICPA previously released questions or updates of previously released questions.  The difficulty level is comparable.

Becker does use as MCQs certain complex-scenario questions with up to 20 answers to choose from.  Those are previously-released questions that predate the computerized exam.  Those questions are actually more comparable to the sims we get now.

A number of the actual test questions looked familiar.  Other questions were completely new, but the subjects tested were covered in the review material.  Overall, no real surprises.

Nan, what suggestion do you have for studying for BEC with regards to taking the exam using Becker MCQ, AICPA released questions and Becker BEC Textbook?
