Nan, what suggestion do you have for studying for BEC with regards to taking the exam using Becker MCQ, AICPA released questions and Becker BEC Textbook?

I burned up several highlighters and colored pens in the book.  Pay serious attention to what Peter Olinto and Mike Potenza have to say - they'll work you through the most-tested stuff.  But don't skip ANYTHING in the book, because the difference between a 73- and a 78+ is being cozily familiar with everything else in the book.

Becker MCQs: Work ALL the questions (including supplementals) and read all the answers, right or wrong, until you understand WHY things work the way they do.  Mark For Review all questions you either had to look up or got wrong on the first pass.  Second pass:  Re-do all your Mark For Review questions.  Repeat until you are at 95% or better for homework.

AICPA released questions:  I printed these out and used them after I had watched most of the videos, so that I could "test myself" while eating shopping-mall foodcourt Chinese food on the way to the bookstore to study.

Good Luck!

Quick general question for those who got 74's on BEC.

1) Did you pass/fail the second time you took it
2) What did you do differently to get you over the edge?

Thanks

1) Passed

2) I studied everything again as if I had never studied it the first time. Eventhough I got my progress report back and knew my weakness was in Econ, I only gave Econ slighly more attention than everything else. I also made sure to take my time during the exam and not automatically assume I knew what the questions was asking me... as BEC can be a little tricky sometimes. I stuck with the same review course and went over the exact same material I did the first time around.

I second this.  When you study the 2nd, 3rd, 4th plus time around you should definitely treat the materials like you've never seen them before.  Comb through it carefully and in detail.

I am going through BEC now. I have a class and set up the exam at the end of August. My note is read carefully the questions, they use the same name, percentage, but they changed the entity. And the answer would be totally different.

Yes, I print all questions also.

Good luck.  You can do it.

To pass you really DO need to obsess over the exams, to the exclusion of everyone and everything else around you.  For the better part of the last year I have been just tossing everything else into a figurative "closet" and quickly shutting the door.  Out of sight, out of mind, back to studying.

The problem, of course, is trying to figure out what to do with yourself after the last exam is done.

I just opened that figurative "closet" door.  There are a few somethings living in there now, and they snarled at me.  Oh, oh....

I couldn't agree more with Nan!
