Couple of topics here.  First, by taking the CPA exam in 2011 when they incorporate IFRS, do you think companies will recognize that you took the exam during this time frame, therefore, might hire you because of the IFRS knowledge that other employees might not have?

Second, will there be new jobs available a big 4/regions and all firms because of the IFRS?  Seems that they will need experts or educated individuals to come in and start working on the new issues.  We might see International Auditing/Tax entry level jobs?

Seems that firms will have to change some of its business model and incorporate new rules.

Could the IFRS rules mean a boom in the accounting profession?

When was it announced that IFRS is officially going to be on the CPA exam? Last time I checked, it was up in the air when it would actually be incorporated. It could be a few years from now.

Yeah, and FAR is a pretty important section of the exam.  I am not sure if FAR will have it in the Jan and Feb window though.  I know they are teaching IFRS in college now going forward, it will be important for you to know IFRS in the future.

There seems to be two opposite schools of thought on IFRS; one group thinks IFRS will lead to full employment for CPAs due to the reasons you mentioned while the other group thinks that it will make it much easier to outsource CPA work.  I really have no idea who's right.

As far as taking the exam 2011, I doubt employers will care as you can learn about IFRS through CPE.
