Ok, I'm going to start my own place, and you can be my bookkeeper/secretary/personal assistant.

I feel bad for hijacking this guy's thread.  Just keep your GPA above a 3.50.  If you can keep it to a 3.70 with not much more effort, do it.  After 3.70, I don't think it matters much.

In fact, GPA only matters to get you an interview.  I guess if all the interviewees impress the same, the higher GPA would win, but that is doubtful.  And Big 4 or bust is silly.  I wouldn't want to go work for some super small firm right out of school, but working for a large regional firm, or even a large local firm would suffice in my opinion.  There are a few job posting that say Big 4 only, but I just checked ones in Atlanta and it seemed many said "Big 4 or Regional/Large Regional" preferred or required.

Good luck.

Don't stress yourself. Have fun with accounting. It is not a death pill, it is a profession with lots of opportunities. Just have fun with it! I've learned to love it even though I have not taken anything accounting courses yet.

You are young, once you get out into the real world you realize you will have many second chances. You can only do what you can and let the rest fall into place.

I'd be interested in an update, now that we have seen another few semesters/quarters pass since this thread started.
