Hi DB,

How does recruiting for Big 4 work at the MAcc level? My GPA throughout college is pretty low, and most MAcc programs are 1 year each. How would I have a GPA to present if they start right away at the fall semester? Should I even both with MAcc if my GPA in college is low to begin with?

Also, if I pass the CPA before beginning my MAcc program, would they overlook my poor performance in the past?

Your GPA put you in a huge disadvantage even if you attend one of the top 25 school.

Passing the CPA won't augment your chance that much.

Econ guy,

My GPA in undergrad (econ) was very low. I have a very high GPA at a non-target Macc and was able to get a big 4 offer. I had the same concerns as you. I recommend just not listing either GPA. Will you be in school next fall? You will be entering the "recruiting season" then and will have a chance to list a new, graduate GPA on your resume (even if it's just for 3-5 classes).

WSP,

Do you mind if I send you an email and chat a little more? I don't want to hijack this thread.
