does it matter at big 4?

are there people from different cultures working at big four in canada, US?

given that they speak english fluently and their accent is not too different from natives...

and the age.. is it true that big four don't hire someone over 22-23 in entry level positions?

I don't think race will hurt you at all, the Big 4 often
have special programs to help get minorities interested in
public accounting. As for the age issue, it probably
wouldn't hurt you if you have access to on-campus
recruiting. The main reason that older people don't get
hired is that the Big 4 hire on campus for entry level
positions.

i have heard they filter the resumes by last name..so you dont even get to show that you are worth it.. but you make good point of on-campus recuriting

I think race and age matter everytime anywhere. I agree this is a pessimistic view, but I've found it to be true in my experience and my husband's as well. He works in a completely different field.

That said, there are exceptions to the rule such as good chemistry, laziness (that was how I got hired), charisma, and being at the right place at the right time.

When I refer to race, it could be caucasian or any minority, depending on the community you're applying at. As far as age, employers, in general, don't like to hire past 50, but some firms like to hire experienced staff.
