I am curious about using the "CPA designation " in a state other than the state you got licensed or certified. I am applying for CA CPA license but i am here in TX working. Can i use the CPA designation in TX?I dont intend to do public practice anyway.Just want to know the legality of calling myself as a CPA..please enlighten me.Thanks

Well you can use the CPA designation in Texas and can practice CPA, but the catch is that you can only audit those branches of such companies in Texas which has its head office in California. As per the US standards you will have to file another license for practicing CPA in Texas for companies which have their head office in Texas or in other state. Similar is the case with individual asset audits.
