I am taking REG January 9th and am having such a tough time focusing.  I am using Becker and can not get myself to read the book word for word....This is my last section to go and I need to be done!  Can anyone recommend the best way to go about studying while using Becker?  I think this section will be the toughest for me :(

I am taking REG for the first time on 4/24/10.  I've taken and passed AUD the first time but on 1/16/10 I took BEC for the 3rd time and am hoping that third time's the charm.

I have the Becker 2009 version, book, lectures and MCQs.  I also have Wiley and Lambers to supplement.  I didn't realize Becker AUD had simulations so never practiced and they kind of through me but guess I did well enough to pass.

Now I know where the Sims are I'll practice....how many times?  For the MCQ I do all including the supplemental and take them over and over until I have them down pat...and use Wiley and Lambers for more to practice.

I really want to pass this and then FAR in July the first time as I'm quite tired of spending the money on reviews and rescheduling.  Any tips would be very welcome.  I'll be doing taxes at work (individual and business) for the first time this year.

Hi, I'm new to the boards, and I am currently studying to sit for my first part of the CPA exam. I chose REG first because the tax stuff is fresh in my mind after taking an income tax class through H&R Block in the fall. I work full time, so I have to allow a longer amount of time for studying...approx 2-2.5 months I think. I am using Becker, and my study plan so far has included reading each regulation chapter, watching the lectures twice, doing the homework problems and supplemental questions twice, and doing the simulations once. I am also making flash cards. I am getting ready to start Regulation 7 in the book. Once I'm done with that, I plan to re-read the whole book, do all the homework and supplemental questions again, and do the simulations twice followed by review of the flash cards and a run through of the final exam simulation. Does this sound reasonable? I had no idea what I was getting myself into with this whole thing. It's SO much information to digest. I can't afford to not pass any of the sections on the first try, so I am determined to study as much as possible. I expect I will have put in close to 250 hours by the time I take the exam (hopefully next month).

Thats good. Good luck with your studies. I say test yourself by doing say
15 random problems each chapter and see how u score. Then u can see
how comfortable u are and schedule your exam. Watch though cuz there
no exams march June and u don't want to take too long or u will get
burned out. 2-3 mos is okay. I work fulltime also and it's tough! How u
doing with law section?

The law part is ok. It's just a LOT of information to remember. Sometimes I feel like I just need to memorize the whole book!
