Dear SourPatch,
I am a full time employee working in Kuwait. I have a family here with 1 year old kid. I have a 45 hrs 5 days week. I have other professional qualifications which includes Chartered Accountant from India, Cost Accounting from India, Company Secretary from India, CMA from United states and CFM from United states. I have masters in Business Administration.

As far as my study habit are concern, i have a unique way of my own which works for me fine.

Step 1: The first thing that i do when i take some course is go through the study material very quickly. Generally i get 40-50% productivity during this review. (Average pages 15-20 page per hour)

Step 2: While going through second time i usually concentrate on those areas which i coudn't understand during my first review and spend more time to understand them. Even though i spend a lot of time on those areas but still my average 15-20 pages is maintained as i go quickly through the areas which i already understood in first review. After this review i feel like i have 75% of material under control.

Step 3: Mostly i do this before exams. Specially with my CPA exams as i had not got enough time (only 1 month before exams and 1 week gap between exams). During the 1 week gap before my exams i used to go through the material like in 4-5 days n then another review 1 day before exams and then another quick one on the morning of the exam.  I just cant explain how i have done that but actually i did it that way.

Final Step: Feel very positive and confident before steping into the test center and always believe that u can deliver the best during your exam. I actually do that. I never scored more than 75-80% during my practice sessions on wiley but even in all my other professional exams but still i always scores much higher than that in my actual exams.

I hope this helps u in some way.
regards

Sadduaks,

Congrats on your great achievement! You are truly an example for every1 here on this forum...

I'm Indian too and reading your previous post I can imagine that CPA must have been a piece of cake for you after passing India C.A, leave alone all your other qualifications...

My CPA journey has just begun and I'm currently preparing BEC with Becker...Would you like to share your BEC exam experience in particular?

Thanks Ray11,

It was not that easy specially 10 years after passing CA and with family n full time job, but yes it was much much easier then CA.

For BEC i spend some 40 hrs before exams and approximately 40 hrs during the exam week. I felt the weightage was high on foreign exchange and there were some really good tricky questions on that.

Time management is very important in BEC exams. Even though it is comparatively easier than the other papers but it contains practical questions and here is a catch. I had experienced it during my testing.

I completed my First and Second testlet within an hour and moved to Third testlet. I got this question as my 17th or 18th of third testlet. Even though it was an easy question but somehow i didnt read it correctly and started calculating tougher things. It was a 2 min question at max but because of panic it took me 13 min. I had to manage the Written communication in less than 40 min. So you should be very careful while reading the question.

Written communication is where u can really get some easy points. Draft it correctly and have a proper formal start and end it nicely. Matter is less relevant that the performa. I hardly spend any time on written communication during my study.

I hope this helps u and all the very best for your CPA journey.

regards
