Hello all
Good news! I just noted this. It seems the MI State Board
of Accountancy has relaxed its experience requirements
from 1 year of "PUBLIC ACCOUNTING" to 1 year in
accounting, government accounting, industry, taxation,
management advisory, etc. This took place in Nov 2010 i
think. Please see the links below:

I hope that other states will follow, or at least keep the CPA license for those who want to work in public accounting and don't label the rest of us as subpar accountants even if we passed the CPA exam as prove of our extensive accounting knowledge, have more school than our supervisors with their inactive CPA licenses, and sometimes have more hands on experience to manage the assigned projects.

I did a 3 month internship in Treasury Services and a 5 month internship in Internal Consulting. Although the manager I reported to did not have a CPA, the directors (and VP's) of both departments did.

Would this experience count? I live in Michigan.
