I am new to this too. I think it is a good idea everyone
post their study plan/schedule here.
I will start next week, and will let you know how it goes.

Here's how I do it:
1. Read the chapter
2. Develop a high level outline
3. Watch a lecture (if you have one to watch)
4. Work problems reviewing right/wrong answers
5. Review the chapter topics where you identified your
weak areas
6. Beef up your outline in the weak areas
7. Take practice quizzes (no more than 10-20 questions)
under exam conditions reviewing wrong answers until you
achieve an 80% proficiency.
8. Review one of your outlines everyday until you take
the exam (e.g. module 35 on Monday, module 36 Tuesday,
etc. so the information gets drilled into your head by
the time you take the exam)
9. Take a comprehensive practice quiz every morning 1
month before the exam (you should be in review mode by
then anyway).
10. Make sure you work both SIMs and MCQ's but cover
MCQ's at least 3 times before the exam.
11. Get adequate rest. Take at least 1 day off per week
and never study for more than 50 minutes without a 10
minute break and after 3 hours take a 2 hour
break...you'll retain more and you'll be spinning your
wheels otherwise anyway.
Good luck.

Hi DETERMINATION, thank you for sharing your experience!
How long do you need to finish one module for the first
time?

Depends on how well I'm understanding the material and
the length of each of those factors, e.g. the lecture,
the amount of reading, etc. I've been able to knock 1
module out in an hour and a half...at the other end if
I'm struggling with the material (e.g. govt accounting in
FAR) I've spent (in FAR) up to 40 hours of studying that;
until I know it cold and am getting a good quiz score.
If it's a core subject and I don't know it, guess what?
My test date gets pushed back, the world stops spinning
and my plans get thrown out the window until I know that
damn topic cold...I don't care what it takes me to do so
either. I've heard people say if I don't know a topic I
just move on...that's a crap shoot I'm not willing to
take. Oh, I'll cut my losses on a topic but that is THE
VERY LAST thing I'll do before moving on to the next
topic. I mean if you think about it, how many times can
you just blow off a topic because you're not getting it
before that becomes a problem. You can either get this
stuff right the first time or keep taking the exam until
you do. Personally, I'd rather get this thing over with
the 1st time or know that I've done this thing exactly
the way they tell you to do it.

Something else to consider, if you're cutting corners and
I'm studying this hard (and my scores aren't that high)
plus there are the whiz kids pulling 95's, 98's, etc...I
got news for you, you're competing against me and them
(hard work vs. pure talent)...maybe you'll get lucky but
the chances are you're going to get smoked on the exam.
People like me are "playing for keeps" so do put your
very best effort into this thing and good luck!
