Hold on a second:  How did the OP get hired by the Big 4 with no BS in accounting and only 12 credits in accounting?  Yet, people here with BS in accountigns and Maccs can't get hired by the Big 4 if their life depended on it?  Is this what the B4's obvivously corrupt hiring practices have come to?

I know big four hires finance and economics majors.  They usuallly work in consulting or advisory.  not audit or tax

Actually I got my job because originally I was an accounting major before I decided to change my major due to my love for economics (which I was unable to find a job in because of the bad economy), and I used to do internships during the summer at the Big 4 office I currently work in and kept up communication with the office while I was in university. Also, hiring practices outside of the US are different for some Big 4s, due to some accounting boards, e.g. ACCA, not requiring a degree in accounting for licensing.

While my major was not in accounting, I had minors in finance and accounting, I actually have 18 credits in accounting and not the 24 credits, and alot of th states require either 150 credit hours or specifically that its an accounting degree.

I never said i only had 12 credits in accounting...I dont have 24 credits, I am actually six credits short and

I am an auditor.. I did an audit course and all my internship experience were in the auditing department. I did two summers in the auditing department, so I was already trained to work in this field with IFRS experience, which is an issue when they try to recruit students from the states.
I did not know Maine didn't require the accounting credits or I would have looked at that state, everyone I had asked previously had told me to apply to NH.

Yeah Maine is less money for the application and don't need 150 hours.  I really want to work over in the Cayman or one of the offshore Islands to do audit/tax Limited Partnership related work, but you usually have to work in the US big 4 firms and then they transfer you over when you have experience.  I know some of the regional firms do this also, but not as many.  So I might have to go for an administrator at one of those offices instead.  Thanks for the info.
