Just passed FAR, now time for Reg. I took Reg 3 times before. I failed with 2 74's and then passed with an 87 on the third attempt back in 2010. Unfortunately, due to a variety of things, the 3 exams that I did have credit for all expired, which included my REG credit.
The first two times that I took Reg and got a 74, I strictly studied using Becker. I remember thinking that the tax questions on the exams weren't a good reflection of those I practiced in Becker...there was always a curve ball. For my 3rd time taking it, I got the Bisk book and would work the questions at the end of those chapters for some additional supplement. That book breaks down the MC moreso compared to Becker, so I could practice a bunch of say, partnership tax questions at once and really drill down on the concepts. But I still used Becker to teach the core concepts...I don't think I'd want to actually read/learn from Bisk....too wordy and alot of extra stuff, but I think the MC questions better prepared me for the test questions. I honestly think I knew just as much going in when I got the 2 74's as when I did when I scored an 87. Hopefully taking 3 times already and even passing once will rub off for my next attempt at it.
Now that I found out I passed FAR today, I'd like to retake REG maybe the beginning of November.
