I have failed REG for the third time and it's my last section. I have gotten "comparable" on most MCQ sections. My weakest topic has been corporate tax. But I have gotten "weaker" on the simulations every time. I just can not seem to prepare myself for the 2011 simulations. I feel the topics are always out of left field. If you can't tell, I am asking for any study advise any of you can provide for this section, and the 2011 sims specifically. I take the exam again in Nov and I pray 4th time is the charm. Thanks.

Congratulations on passing the Reg exam!! I am in the same boat that you were in. I passed the other three sections of the exam on my first try but have failed REG three times with scores of 71, 69, 72. I have been scoring "stronger" overall on the M/C but "weaker" on the sims (sims have always been my weak point). On my last two exams, 4 of my simulations have dealt with sec 1245 and 1250 depreciation recapture combined with percentage of completion method and installment sale method( I'm not sure if that is bad luck or if it's an area I need to study hard).
I have been studying with Becker and they don't really emphasize those topics so I decided to purchase the Gleim study software. I find that Gleim is more challenging than Becker and their questions involve a lot more detail than Becker's questions. I have been averaging and 80% on the Gleim questions as opposed to a 90% on Becker but the more I do the Gleim questions the more I feel unprepared because I feel like there are a lot of details that I don't know too well. I'm taking my exam on August 15 and if I don't pass this time I can take it one last time in October. If I fail in October I lose my first credit which is FAR. My confidence level is down right now and I am constantly second guessing myself and my study approach. Any advice that you can pass along would be greatly appreciated. Congrats again on passing REG. I feel your pain!!!!
