Thank you so much for your detailed information, bhagyesh!
I will try to figure out who is the person to handle my case first, and wait a little more to see what happens next!

Congratulations on getting your CPA license number, and that's a great step for your professional life!
Please let us know when you actually receive your CPA license card.

hello,

Giving you some sad news. As you might be aware CPA licensing is a big mess in USA, as each state's accountancy board issues for it's own. I checked out with my state's Board (i.e. PA Board) that whether I was allowed to put that three (3) letters behind my name on a resume just as a mark of achievement and have no intent of praticing public accounting. The response was as I am a resident of Pennsylvania state have to fulfill all the requirement that the PA board needs for putting that "CPA" designation regardless of having a valid active license from Colorado. Now as you know the work experience factor is the one of the 'e' from the 3'e' that I don't have won't be able to get PA State License and till I don't get that I am not allowed to put the 'CPA' title even not on a resume, letter head, business card etc. I did mention them again & again that it is more of uplifting or crediting one's resume and not giving wrong impression but they said the 'CPA' words do give a wrong impression & in a way gives and offer of providing public accounting services to all the readers & viewers.

So I don't know what to do. I think am stuck up with CO license as have no intent of moving to the state of CO in near future. Atleast the last resourse is that let the 15th of july, 2015 pass and then under the grandfather rule all Colorado issued licenses with or without experience will be treated substaintially equivalent to majority of the states in usa and PA will be one of them and will be able to transfer free of cost to PA. Naturally that is a too long time frame but that the last resource if anything other doesn't work.

Thus my advice to you would be make sure with your residing state board that do they allow using the title behind your name when you have an outside state license.

Please do let me know if you find out any way or any other resource.

Hi bhagyesh,
I am sorry to hear that, but I think on your resume, you can say you are a "licensed CPA from Colorado".
I am even not a resident in the U.S., but I just want a CPA license anyway.

Thanks for keeping us informed!

Hello Bhagyesh, I am stuck at a similar point. When I applied to register to Colorado board for exams, I was also asked proof of 3 credit hours in US GAAS. I did my Masters of Commerce from Pune University, India.

Is there any specific auditing course we can take at any of the US universities to satisfy this requirement? I am in Indiana state in USA as of now.

Thanks

hello cocacpa,

you are right, have done so in my resume. By mentioning clearly CO licensed CPA I am not giving any wrong impression of offering public accounting service and moreover I am posting resume for jobs and not for obtaining any audit contract or sub-contract work. that were my thoughts & thus did put the tiltle with that clearity.
