Hi Sbya,

The CA Institute where you did your CA, preferably the
Director of Education or similar position who will
understand the requirement of US GAAS coverage. I just want
to mention you that the Audit syllabus / course work
completed for your CA exams may be considered as
professional work and not academic.... this NASBA told me
lately and I fear I may have to take the 3 semester credits
of Audit covering US GAAS....go figure!!

Hi DaruDadu,

I did not take any classes with the CA institute, but
attended a private institution for coaching. Would a letter
from my instructor work - he is also a CA or i would need
one from the Institute?

Hope NASBA accepts the CA exam education and we dont have
to take the 3 sem credits of Audt.

Please update if you hear back from them.

Hi Bhagesh,

I am a B.com (H) from University of Delhi and CA from ICAI. I have completed Uniform CPA examination, Ethics Exams. Now to obtain licensure, i would need to submit proof for 3 hour of semester study in audit field covering US GAAS. I believe your university Department had given the same certificate.

Would be able to share details from which university, year and format of that certificate you had obtained to complete licensure.

Urgent Help much appreciated.

Hi all

I have passed CPA exams in 2008 from CO board. I was hoping to get 1 yr
work experience in 5 years time frame but now that i am approaching the
5 yr deadline I feel i wont be able to get the required work experience. So
I am planning to apply on education basis.

I have done Bcom, Mcom, MBA finance from Mumbai.

I am a little confused. Do I need total 6 sem hours of audit and out of that
3 sem hours covering GAAS ?

My FACS evaluation report (done in July 2009) says I have "at least 3 sem
hours of audit" . It doesn't specify that I have 6 hours of audit.

Should I submit my application for getting certified and take my chances?
Or should i take some online course to meet that requirement and then
submit the application ?

During 2008-9 they were not so strict about this GAAS requirement i
believe. My friends who are CAs from India got the certificate without any
problems..

One more query :

Do the exam credits expire if I dont apply for a certificate within 5 years
of passing the exam ?

The Colorado rules of certification imply that the work experience
requirement has to be fulfilled within 5 years of passing the exams.

but the Nasba FAQs state that the credits dont expire.
http://www.nasba.org/licensure/nasbalicensing/colorado/faqs/

So what does this mean? Does it mean that after 5 years of passing the
exam I can apply for the certificate only on basis of education and not
work experience ?

Can someone clarify this point ?
