Hello Sheetal123 and Sujatha,

I am also in the same boat as you sheetal123, I passed my C.P.A. exams in 2008 from Colorado board and still have to apply for license. The question you asked that "Does the cpa exam credits expires or not after 5 years of passing the cpa exams"? is my concern too.

I think if we do not apply for license within 5 years from passing the c.p.a. exams then our credits will expire. Is it correct?

Can someone please clarify this confusion...

I will be really thankful....

Shweta

Hi Shweta,

Check the fourth FAQ of the following link. It says your

Hello Sparrow,

Thanks for the reply, I did check the Nasba Faq link you provided.

So this means that we can apply for license even after 5 years from passing the cpa exams? And our cpa exam credits will never expire.

Is it correct?

Sorry for asking it again, but I just want to be sure on this as the 5 year period is approaching soon for me.

Thanks,

Shweta

Hi Shweta,

Please go through rules of Colorado Board thoroughly.
Here is the link:

http://www.dora.state.co.us/accountants/rules.htm

If you go through chapter 4 and particularly para 4.1, it
says one year of experience must be obtained no more than
five years immediately preceding the date the application
is received by the Board or its designee.

Also go through point 3.9
If an Applicant applies for licensure with Examination
scores obtained more than 10 years prior to the
application receipt date which implies you can apply for
license even after 10 years of passing the exam.

Can you please tell me where did you find that applicant
has to apply for license within 5 years of passing the
exam?

Also, education in lieu of experience is also a good
option if you meet certain credit hours. go through rule
2.7. Feel free to ask any questions.

Thanks

Hi Sujatha,

You can pursue Independent and Distance Learning Course of
Louisiana State University. Code ACCT 3222 Auditing. It
covers US GAAS and is acceptable by colorado board of
accountancy.

Thanks
