Dear all,
This will probably be my last post on this great forum.
Over the past year, this place has always given me the
support I needed to keep going.
The CPA exam is really a journey that all of us will
remember for the rest of our lives.
Anyway, onto the Ethic exam.
First of all, the answer to every single question can be
found in the review material.(Granted I didn't find all
of them, only found enough to pass the 90% mark).
I know the review material has like 300 pages, but it's
nicely divided into chapters. USE THE TABLE OF CONTENT!!
Identify which chapter/section is the question focusing
on first, then it's much easier to find the answer.
I spent about 5 hours before turning in for my first
score. During the study process, I made an excel sheet to
track the page number & concept each question is related
to. And I mark down all the questions that I am 100% sure
of (for each of those, I have concrete support in the
book for exactly same or very very similar situations)
It's very important to find the related Ruling or
standard for each of the questions even if you think you
know the answer.
I got 86% for the first try. I know I only need 2 more
questions right to pass, and luckily they give me some
very obvious hint (GAO, and rule ###). I could narrow it
down to the exact question since their hint is in the
order of questions you got wrong.
I will use GAO as an example, there are only 2 questions
related to GAO in my exam. And by analyzing the order of
the hint, I could easily identify the exact question.
I also got hint regarding Rule ### or Rule ### ruling
###. Those are also easy to identify since I kept track
of which questions are testing these rules, and which
ones I didn't find concrete support for the first time.
For the first try, I think the goal is not to get all the
questions correct (of course it's possible but it takes
too much time). A more efficient way is to identify every
question and its related content and use them combined
with CalCPA's hint to pass on the 2nd try.
I submitted answers 15min later after I failed the first
try and passed. I believe it's a much more efficient way
to tackle this exam.
Lastly, GOOGLE IS YOUR FRIEND....Don't limit yourself to
the review material.
Best wishes!!
