I just called the Board.  They have all of my stuff approved, I passed the ethics exam, but my firm let their license expire!!!!!!  I have to get someone here to get us current, and it's Friday, so good luck to me finding any admin around.

On 1/30 my candidate log-in was shut down and my name showed up on the individual license search and license status is unissued.  Still no information on paying for or releasing my license.

I checked mine as well.  My candidate log-in is also shut down. And my name showed up as "unissued" as well (as of 1/29/2008).

Hopefully that means my information is on the way!!  Glad to finally be done.

I received my online score that I passed the last section of the CPA Exam on December 22.  I mailed some of these things back on Dec. 23.  Then, on December 29, I got a huge yellow envelope from TSBPA with the following:
  1. 25 Question Exam on TX Rules of Professional Conduct
  2. Application for Licensure
  3. Congratulatory Letter
  4. Work Experience forms
  5. Oath of Office form
I sent it all back on Jan. 2 (Next Day Air, Certified, Return Receipt Requested).  Here is what I sent back to Austin:
  1. Completed Exam on TX Rules of Prof. Conduct
  2. Completed Application for Licensure
  3. Work Experience forms (copies; I sent originals on Dec. 22)
  4. Certificate for 4-hrs Ethics CPE (copy; I sent original on Dec. 22)
  5. Notarized Oath of Office
  6. Statement explaining I sent $50 on Dec. 22 for Cert. Fee
Now I am waiting to see how long it will take them to process.  I am guessing 2-3 weeks, but who knows.

Well here I am.  Today is Jan. 30, I have been working on my Certification with TSBPA since Dec. 22.  This morning I noticed my status finally changed on the Board's website from "Passed CPA Exam" to "CPA Certification in Process."  It also shows they have accepted my check for $50.

I just called this afternoon to confirm that I passed the Exam on the Rules of Prof. Conduct, but he said the lady who graded the exam had already left for the day.  I am gonna call back on Monday.  I just want to be a CPA.  I told our Secretary order my business cards that say "Certified Public Accountant", but I still can't display them until the Board processes my license.  TSBPA makes me sick.

Below are points of advice to those beginning the licensing process:
  1. When you receive your final passing score on the CPA exam, go out and celebrate.  DO NOT RUSH TO THE POST OFFICE to send in your work experience, $50 check, oath of office, and/or Ethics CPE completion certificate.
  2. In about a week you will receive a large envelope (the largest you have ever gotten from TSBPA).  It contains your application and Professional Conduct Exam, neither of these are available on the website.
  3. Mail everything to the Board at once, not bits and pieces of what is available on the website.
  4. Use the time between finding out you passed the last CPA exam section and receiving your huge envelope from TSBPA to do the following:
      • Celebrate
      • Re-learn any lost social skills and brush up on current events
      • Get your boss to fill out the Work Experience stuff (don't mail it yet)
      • Do the Ethics CPE online (make sure it's a video course, they are a little more expensive but much more tolerable than reading a giant pdf for 4 hours).
