It's also a good idea to start calling the board about 10 business days after you submitted your ENTIRE required forms and fees that they mail you.  Once they deposit your check, grade your ethics, and approve the other stuff, your number is assigned.  Then they mail it.  I called them and they gave me my number over the phone, so I could immediately pay my annual fee (pro-rated) online.

Just an FYI for future readers.  They also told me that they only process new CPA's on Monday's.   This is a LONG process.  I took my first exam in July and my last one Nov this year, and I am showing up as unissued.   I also reccommend over-nighting your goods to them.

Thanks 2down.  My check was deposited on Jan. 26, but they haven't yet acknowledged my:
  1.  work experience
  2.  ethics stuff
  3.  oath of office, or
  4. Exam on rules of prof. conduct
I called last week and was told the above items should be visible on the website this week, but there is nothing so far.  I will definitely give them a call once everything appears.

So get this: I got to work this morning and a box of business cards was on my desk.  The cards show my name and FUTURE title:

Matt B.
Certified Public Accountant

I had to stuff them into the bottom drawer of my desk.  It is hard for me to find words in the English language to adequately convey how frustrated I am for the inability to display or even show to friends my new business cards, that highlight my greatest of accomplishments, all because of bureaucratic gridlock in Austin.

It is very frustrating.  They are also not very helpful when you call.  However do not wait until your results show up on the window to call.  I called them a week before any thing posted to at least find out if everything was good.  Everything was good, it was just passing through several lazy govt workers' hands before I could obtain MY license that I worked hard for.

On the business card front....I asked our EA to order me new cards, she said "no new cards until May" because we are moving.  I can't win.  Hang in there.  At least the worst part is well behind us.

Ok, I just got off the phone with Austin.  They told me that everything is being finalized and to call back on Friday to get my "License Number" so I can log into the licensed "individual licensees" part of the website to pay the next fee.

FYI...it will be another week after you pay your fee until your license shows up on their website as "issued."
