If firms are only recuriting from internships, that sure does stink.  I'm doing my BS in accounting online from Washington State, so I can't do an internship since I'm on the other side of the country.  I guess I will just have to try my luck sneaking into the career fairs at schools in NY and NJ when I approach graduation, which should be in 2012.  Right now I'm leaning toward working at a Fortune 500.  I'm one of the few people who could not care less if I get hired by the Big 4 (which I likely won't anyway since I can't do an internship and my netowrking skills are a disaster).

Do I even stand a chance of getting a job 2 years from now, or did I shoot myself in the foot by going the online route?  I can't see the fact that I got an online degree being an issue since I am getting it from a highly reputable AACSB accredited institution.

If the economy has picked up in two years, then your chances will be much better than they are now. In 2007, it was a piece of cake getting work in accounting.
