You are a little confused.  A CPA is what you want for the Financial Analyst position you see at Fortune 500 companies/etc.  CFA more geared towards finance and more specifically investment management.  If your goal is to goto a top company and become a financial anayst then finish ur your CPA.

Thanks for the info.  I feel a little better now about the CPA, and am no longer considering the CFA.  Do you think work in a local CPA firm will help my prospects for landing such a position?

The work you get a local CPA firm does not carry over as well as doing public accounting (Audit).  Since there is more financial accounting involved.  Most local CPA's focus on individual tax.  So I don't think that is the ideal route.

I agree I would say it's definitely harder. Which review were you using? I have Schweser materials from a couple of years back. I was going to take it, but life got in the way so I decided the CPA would be easier and quicker to get. Are you planning to take level 2 in June if you pass? Sounds like you have your hands full!! Good Luck!!

I watched Stalla videos, skimmed through the study guides.  Then I read the Schweser notes and did QBanks.  I was so strapped for time that I took the mock tests from CFA 1-2 days before the test.  If I pass, I definitely want to attack Level 2 asap.  It's too stressful cramming that much information in a short amount of time.  About 1 more month till results.  The CFA is pretty brutal, definitely tons of sacrifice and commitment is necessary.

I suspected as much, and that is true about my job.  But I do have some audit experience at bigger firms.  Do you think I should try and get in with the Big 4 to get more SEC audit experience before thinking about this?  Thanks again.

Yes, Big 4 experience + CPA is what got me this 3-5 years Financial Analyst position at a top company.
