Click the link for the additional best Macc programs in the northeast.  However, you don't have to go to a top accounting program just as long as a decent numberof companies recruit on campus.  It's not like getting an MBA where there can be a huge difference in the compnaies that recruit from 1st tier and 2nd tier schools.  In accounting, the chances are good that the companies who recruit from 1st tier schools also recruit from 2nd tier ones as well.  I'm at undergrad student at WSU (I'm doing the program online) and I know that the Big 4 hire interns and entry level employees from WSU.

Are you sure about that? I would have thought that, for example, an accounting firm in Boston, would prefer recruiting from a Boston/NYC area school than in Oregon.

Also, I had no idea that pedigree isn't that important in accounting. I always heard for MBAs that the M7 and T10 schools are really what you want to be at, and the rest are whatever. Same with law, except it was T14 for law. That's very interesting to hear that people don't demand Wharton degrees in accounting to get anywhere.

accounting is very regional. firms will hire according to which schools are closest as well as the connection of alumni. big four, for example , will allow several programs to pick their location preference (BYU, USC, Mich, UT, Berkeley)

Clips, are you saying that if you goto those schools you will have the ability to choose your preferred location?  Just wanted some clarification.

A Wharton grad is not going to work in accounting.  They will go into finance and make twice as much. Wall St. is the dream destination for nearly every student at top busines schools.
