I envy you because you were able to pass REG. I don't know, but I'm really struggling with REG. The material is just way too much for my brain and it's just flushing out so much due to overload. I hope I don't lose my FAR and AUD credit because of this part. I know I have a while before I lose credit on them, but the way I'm going, I'm afraid REG is going to be a tough one to pass for me. I'm putting in the hours, but my brain isn't retaining the information. I know the concepts, but there's too much memorization involved. I think REG is much harder than FAR.

For me, REG was harder than FAR and certainly harder than BEC.  I think that is in part due to the fact that I don't have any experience in taxation.

I think once you get over individual taxation, which I think is one-third of the total lecture hours....everything else goes much faster.  From my experience, I wouldn't focus too much on memorizing everything.  I think the key with passing REG is understanding the concepts.  Basis is heavliy tested as is Corp and partnership taxes....Phil is right on those points.

One thing that I felt was also heavily tested was professional responsibilities......circular 230.  You really need to review tax practioner requirements.  Here, I really felt Yeager was a little lite...not knocking them but just felt this area in the Wiley book doesn't teach much.

I think my score doesn't really reflect how hard I studied.  I think I did pretty well on the multiple choice, but I really bombed the TBS's.  Some were quite difficult and yes know AMT.

Lastly, don't overlook the small stuff, seems much of the things I tended to glance over........was tested (cannot go into details here) but the small little things one would tend to overlook.

Good Luck............go slow, chip away, try to absorb a little at a time and you will pass.

Seriously, Yaeger DOES work!!! I just got my FAR and AUD
results and got an 89 and 87 respectively. Can you
believe it? I got a 47 in AUD last year. Then when I
switch to Yaeger, I got a MAJOR jump to an 87!!! Yaeger
rocks!!!!I was a terrible AUD student in college and
never understood a darn thing. But Yaeger comes along and
saves my life. So, yes, Thank You Yaeger!!!! When I become
a CPA, it's all because of your program. I have full
confidence that your program will help me pass REG and
BEC. So, thank you again!!!

Hi CPA#1,

Did you use the regular course or the cram course?
I failed AUD once in February (very miserably) and I am
going to retake it in Aug. I used Yaeger Cram for FAR
(Nov 2010) & REG (May 2011) and it helped a lot! Thanks
Phil & Co.!
I don't think I can sit and watch videos for too long and
that's why I am leaning towards the cram course, but any
suggestions are welcome!

For FAR, I used my old 2009 HomeStudy course and the 2011 Cram so I can get updated on the changes. For AUD, I used the HomeStudy course. The AUD HomeStudy is only 19 hours, so I don't think it's that long compared to FAR and REG. I would certainly recommend that you buy the HomeStudy for AUD. Gary is the man!!

BTW- I'll be more than happy to give you my AUD score if you'd give me your passing score in REG. I'm having such a hard time studying for that. But don't worry. I'm going to pass this beast. I got this far, so there's no way I'm stopping now. I'm going to tackle this beast if it kills me.
