I think 30-35k is the starting salary for a regular job in accounting I'm in FL) with no experience and just out of college.  I landed my first job about 3 mos ago as staff accountant at a private university, starting at 39K.  I graduated in May, no experience, but I'm studying for the CPA exam to take it next year.  PA jobs start in the low 40's with no experience. 

 In the last few weeks all I've done is study at work or surf the web because they decided I had no experience to help them with the audit preparation and everyone seems to be stressed about this.  All I did was a PPE schedule that took me 3 days and went through invoices for 2 days.  Las 3-4 weeks I'm just sitting here like an idiot...lol...but they pay me..so...I keep quiet..

 I don't know what's the point of having me here.  Obviously they think that just because I come right out of college I don't know anything.  I probably know more than the other accountants who can't even figure out a journal entry and who spend the entire day working on reconciliations and say they are so "stressed out".  I'm just gonna wait until Dec when I finish the class I'm taking and will start applying at PA firms.  In the meanwhile I will use this time to prepare for the CPA Exam.

  When I was hired I was told I would be busy. I was busy for 5 weeks, then it just sucks.  All I've learned is that their accounting sucks as well as their internal controls.  I don't know how they get an unqualified opinion, maybe the 100k is good enought to keep the auditors happy.  I think we had already posted about this...but oh well..who cares..we have nothing better to do..These people here think they've been touched by god....lol...funny place...horrible job..
