Hi All

Just FYI (for those of you who are on tight  $$ budget).....Gleim give me a discount for the test prep (for all four sections) for a total of  $140.00. I ask for student discount and I provided them my edu address. In all I pay $35 for each section. I think I get a good bargain purchase.

I am currently using Gleim for FAR right now. I have decided to push FAR to the last of my tests. I noticed someone on the boards took their tests in the following sequence:

BEC

AUD

REG

FAR

I thought this was funny because the acronym spells BARF. I guess these tests do make you want to barf after you experience them. But anyway, the sequence makes sense for me because I think FAR is going to be my hardest subject.

The Gleim books do not go into enough detail for a topic that wasn't covered in school. I have found that a good resource may be to just utilize Google because I can promise you that a particular topic will come up for you.

I believe sometime in 2008 or late 2007, I purchased Gleim's EQE CD. I thought this was mainly for studying for your college exams that your teachers give. Turns out that alot of the same questions on that CD are on the CPA review CD. The only one that is not available is the one for BEC so I will have to buy the BEC CPA Review CD. But until I can afford the other CDs, I will just use my EQE CD-Rom. The EQE CD is much cheaper than the CPA review CD and with mostly the same questions. I believe the CPA CD just has more questions.

I might also suggest those of you good at self-study go look the Gleim route.  I have passed three sections using strictly the Gleim Books ($50) and the Gleim M/C Question CD ($50).  I get each set for about $85 after shipping (they give a discount when you buy multiple products).  I have passed the first time for each section taken.  The books go into way too much detail sometimes, but you have to understand the topics to achieve good results consistently on the m/c questions. I study one section at a time about for about two months and then take the exam.

Again, you have to have good self-study habits, but they work.  I am proof of that....of course I do still have REG left.

Hello,  May I know how u study them.  I have been trying to memorize and I could not.  Please advise.  Thank you

I used Gleim online for a year for FAR and I failed!

Gleim's strength is also their weakness, especially in FAR. If I had a Gleim question that I had not covered in college, I was in trouble!  Gleim’s lectures and books are worthless. Gleim's audio and books are only good for answering their true and false questions; they are worthless as a resource for FAR problem solving.

I need a teacher!  Therefore, I enrolled in Yaeger.   Yaeger is very strong in their lectures and they review hundreds of multiple choice questions.

I still like Gleim. I think that they are the best at organizing multiple choice questions.  However, I would recommend that the CPA candidate find another review course, like Yaeger, that offers college type lectures to supplement Gleim.

I now only use Gleim in their Test Mode AFTER I have reviewed the material with Yaeger.  I will continue to buy Gleim Test Prep, but I will no longer buy their full online course.
