My plan is intense, but this is hopefully my last
section (AUD score pending) and just can't wait for it
to be done. I would be so happy with a 76! or even a 75!
Good luck with BEC chk07!

I have found the multiple choice questions pretty much explain everything.  I use the Wiley books and go through the MCQ's two or three times. I go through the book front to back then back to front to keep all of the information fresh.  Occasionally I will read the chapter if I am having a difficult time with the information.  This works best for my learning style, but might not for others.  It has taken me 3 or 4 weeks to prepare for each exam that I have passed.  This is putting in an average of 26 hours of study time/week.  I do work a full-time job, but I don't have a wife or kids so that probably makes things a big easier.

I would also recommend going someplace quiet to study, like a library.

Let me know if you have any questions.  I'd love to help.

My study plan for FAR (Becker review)

1) Watched the lectures twice

2) Did all MCQ's including supplemental questions. Read all explanations and took notes

3) Marked all questions I did not answer correctly the first time

4) Worked all the sims and took notes

5) Worked all AICPA released questions, becker quizzes, progress tests and final exams and took notes

6) Watched the final review lectures, did all MCQ's and sims included there

7) Re-worked the marked MCQ's I didn't answer correctly the first time

8) Reviewed the notes I took and skimmed through the book

Here's what I've done for my FAR exam on 5/29 (using Yaeger HomeStudy & CRAM with Wiley books):

1. Watch all the Yaeger HomeStudy videos and take notes
2. Do all assigned Wiley problems (the step I'm on now) and take notes on key points of problems missed
3. Watch the Yaeger CRAM (Saturday and Sunday of this weekend)
4. Review / do practice problems for topics with more difficulty
5. Review notes taken during Yaeger HomeStudy/CRAM, problem notes, and Yaeger Handout
6. Get a good night's sleep the night before and get a healthy, filling breakfast in
7. Sleep until 9 am, go for a walk, get some good vibes, and kick the crap out of FAR at Noon on 5/29/09
8. Stop at the Burger King that always looks so tempting on my drive to the exam center for a celebratory late lunch/early dinner
9. Watch a lot of episodes of LOST over the weekend!

I think I motivate myself to keep studying when I know I have a relaxing, fun, positive time that starts the evening before my exam.

Please share your secrets of success to studying in the
"FAR study plan talk" Topic.

Will be of great help and motivation to us who are still
struggling with the subject.

Thanks

Hi,

I didn't do anything special to get my score (99).  It was mostly just hard work.  But I'll briefly share some pointers.

I started studying for FAR in Feb and took my test early April (so about 8 weeks).  I used BISK education's textbook, HotSpots and Intensives.  Those were extremely helpful!!!  The textbook is meaty but it has a lot of good stuff in it.  The HotSpots were by far the greatest thing.  They let me get the big picture and I recommend them above everything else (I actually bought the whole set - great deal at prepareright.com).  I also used Gleim's multiple choice questions and CPAreviewforfree.com.  Both of those helped a lot too as I did over 100 new questions each day for about 2 weeks before the exam (crazy but good).  Another thing that I did which will probably shock you is that I made over 800 of my own flashcards (handwritten!).  That helped too.   BTW - I'll have you know that I celebrated my score last night by burning every single flashcard I made with a bottle of lighter fluid!!!!! :)  That felt soooo good!!!

Anyways, that's basically what I did.  I went through several chapters each week, made flashcards, and did problems.  Then, after having gone through all of the chapters with 2 weeks left, I reviewed everything, watched the videos, and literally did thousands of questions.  It was a lot of hard work, but I know the stuff and it was worth it.

Bottom line - A lot of prayer and little bit of hard work goes a long ways :)

Soli Deo Gloria,
Mark
