Hi caper,
I was wondering if you could guide me a little as well, i see u know a lot!
I worked with PwC in Toronto for 18 months... and then I moved to a different country.. I'm in the UAE now. I took a break from work and have just completed writing all 4 of the exams..passed REG and BEC.. waiting for AUD and FAR results.. I'm hopeful for the results.
Anyways.. my question is.. when is it a good time to send in the application for certificate and permit? I still need to complete 8 months of work experience, and write the ethics exam (assuming i pass FAR and AUD).. so the way I see it, I can't send in my application until I finish everything.
i spoke to the board and they said they discard all documents after a year. I wanted to get PwC to send that 18 month letter in just because I only left a few months ago and people still know me there.. I don't want to be stuck in a position where nobody there knows me and I ask them to send a letter in to the board.
Please advise.
Thanks!

I recommend you apply for the permit to practice once you have completed the work experience. You have 10 years to fulfill the work experience requirement. Make sure your supervisor verifying your work experience is a Canadian CA or CPA.
On a side note, why not apply to Colorado ? They only require 12 months of public accounting work experience.

Thanks.. that's what I was thinking. I just thought it might be a problem getting a certificate from PwC a while after I left.. i.e. if people i knew/worked with left.. but hopefully it shouldn't be a problem.
Colorado needs a certain number of audit hours i believe.. I don't have those yet.. so I think it works out to be the same.. I'll need to work about 6 more months to complete those audit hours, or 6 more months to complete he 24 months for delaware.
ill check again though.. that might be a good idea!
