Hi All,

I am a CA , Cost Accountant and B Com from India.cleared all 4 exams from Colarado. Now I live in NJ.

I am planning to get my edu evaluation from thru FACS or ECE.

- Do I have to study additional 30 hrs education since I have B Com?

- Since I am in NJ, should I 1) try to apply in NJ directly OR 2)  get the CPA license from Colarado and transfer to NJ ?

Do we have anyone with similar education who found a way to get the license ?

Appreciate if you someone can call me at 908 812 8761 or email me at jatin15@hotmail.com

Hi amiown,

You need to have at least 45 semester hours credit for
accounting courses which includes at least 6 semester hours
in auditing.

Therefore,I am afraid 33 semester hours credit in
accounting courses would not meet the requirements under
Rule 2.5 of CO Board.

Someone, please help me with following queries:

  1. What happens if I am not able to apply for licensure for 5 years as per Colorado Board? Would I not be able to apply for it after 5 years?
  2. I was in US for some time and now back to India, settled here but I have a SSN. So, still I need to go for SSN affidavit or is my SSN still valid?
  3. For evaluation, how do I calculate the number of hours beforehand? I am a BCom and CA.
  4. If I get licensed in CO state, however, work in some other state (not signing as a CPA, normal job); do I still need to get my license transferred to other state?

Thanks in advance !

Well, I was able to get some answers out here in "italics":

  2. I was in US for some time and now back to India, settled here but I have a SSN. So, still I need to go for SSN affidavit or is my SSN still valid? SSN only valid when present in United States. So, I assume that I have to file SSN Affidavit.
  3. For evaluation, how do I calculate the number of hours beforehand? I am a BCom and CA. Only FACS can tell me the same because I am seeing people in this forum getting different hours.
  4. If I get licensed in CO state, however, work in some other state (not signing as a CPA, normal job); do I still need to get my license transferred to other state? No, not required to get my license transferred unless I am signing as a CPA.

Thanks in advance !

If people are of different view, please do post. Even, slightest info can help in getting the things right in one go.

Plus, can some one tell that whether "SSN Affidavit" has to be attested by a public notary?

Hey Divya,

For your 1st point, the CO State Board has recently changed the experience rules whereby the 5 year limit has been changed to '5 years prior to making your application'. So, effectively the 5 yr limit from date of passing CPA exam for getting experience has been removed & all you need to do is to make your Application within 5 yrs of getting the requisite experience.. Check the new Emergency Rules on this link for the new experience requirements:
