Hi Ram,

After you have successfully passed your Uniform CPA Examination, you must take your AICPA Ethics examination & then apply for CPA license.

If you wish to hold Colorado CPA license, you can apply on the basis of 1.One year of experience in public accounting, under the direct supervision of an actively licensed CPA OR 2. You may opt to qualify for a certificate by meeting a higher education requirements - This is Rule 2.5 education in lieu of experience OR 3. On the basis of experience that the Board deems to be equivalent. The experience must be gained 5 years before or after passing the Uniform CPA Examination. (For this you must work on US GAAP & US GAAS)

and I am an Indian CA with 5+ years of experience in Equity
Research, BPO and Audits. What are the chances of getting
job there?

I was told by some of my frnds that ethics exam and
licensing is not required if we are planning for employment
and these are required only if you want to start up a
practice or in any form where you have to sign

Please help me as I am not aware of what is next after
passing the CPA exam.

Hi Ram,

As a CPA you cannot legally claim or use the CPA title in the US unless you hold a valid CPA license issued by your state. Also, you cannot sign any document as a CPA till you have the license. You can apply for a license within 5 years of passing your CPA exam. So, you have 5 years to think if you really want it or not. Also, I'd heard that you cannot add the CPA degree after your name till you are licensed (i'm not sure if that's true). If you plan to continue working in India you can certainly put CPA degree on your resume without a license.

As far as getting a job in the US is concerned, you have to have a work permit (H1B visa). You need to find an organisation who is willing to sponser your H1B.

Ethics exam is needed only if you wish to apply for the license.

Hope I've answered all your questions :)
