Hello again! I'm back after a very busy busy season at the office. I wish the very best of luck to all of you and I congrat everyone that has successfully passed in the JAN-FEB test window.
I study for FAR as everybody else (and I'm very stressed about it).
I have just got back from the Becker website where all updates are listed and since I was very confused, I did some research on the topic and I would like to share with you my findings.
In the APR-MAY window please be aware that FAS157 and FAS 159 are eligible for testing. So if not in your books visit www.fasb.org and read their summaries.
In the JUL-AUG window, please please be aware that FAS 141R and FAS 160, 161 and 162 are eligible for testing, since they are effective from December 15, 2008. This totally changes that F3 lecture of Becker. (FAS 162 talks about the hierarchy of GAAP so it is easy stuff)
Just wanted to share with you because there is a lot of confusion around. If not sure about the dates of proncouncements the best way to deal with it, would be to visit a public company's website and dowload the latest 10K filed (for 2008). In the note about significant accounting policies there is a comprehensive list on all new pronouncements for 2007 and 2008. (it is a mandatory disclosure for public filers under SEC). Cheers!
