Hi! i recently moved from Uk to Usa and planning to start
my CPA in Philadelphia. I have completed 13 out of 14
papers of ACCA and waiting for the result of my last
paper which is due on next february and after that(i will
pass hopefully) i will be an ACCA affilate. I evaluated
my certificates (13 papers) from ECE and was awarded 97
credit!! Can anyone please tell me how many credits are
must to sit for CPA exams in philadelphia?? I checked
website and little bit confused. If i complete all the
papers of acca how many credits i suppose to get? I got
HIGH SCHOOL DEPLOMA but i was not awarded any credit for
that though it is written on the evaluation that I GOT
USA EQUIVILANT HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA?? Am i not suppose to
get some credit for that? Last question..which extra
courses i should take to qualify myself to sit for cpa
exams and where??? Can someone help me with my
confusions??? Please.

If you would like to become a licensed CPA, most U.S.
states require 150 credit hours of education (equivalent
of bachelor's degree (120) + one-year master's degree
(30)). There are exceptions to the rule, such as New
Hampshire, that would allow you to become a CPA with just
bachelor's degree (NH is actually loved by international
candidates).

Another question is whether or not the State Board of
Accountancy will grant you exemptions from CPA exam if
you are a fully qualified CCA. I do not believe that
AICPA has a mutual-recognition agreement with ACCA, but I
have heard that some fully qualified members of ICAEW
(i.e. Chartered Accountants) got exemptions from (3/4)
sections of the CPA exam (REG was the only one that they
had to take). So, if you get lucky, you might even get
exemptions from the CPA exam.

I would recommend going to the Pennsylvania State Board
of Accountancy website
(http://www.dos.state.pa.us/portal/server.pt/community/st
ate_board_of_accounting/12502) to carefully research the
requirements for CPA licensure.
