I earned a full scholarship to a top school through Army ROTC. After a Big 4 internship and getting the Master's, I graduated and started my 4 year commitment in the Army (not doing anything remotely related to accounting).
Now I've been on active duty about 9 months and I'm at a stable unit that won't deploy--perfect time to start sitting for the exam, right?
I'm concerned that a 4-year accounting hiatus will make me unappealing to employers. Would a big 4 be interested in a candidate like me?

Im sure its not impossible you will probably need someone to refer you though.... when you apply with big 4 your resume gets lost in a sea of resume's of all the people trying to apply every day so chances that anyone will ever see your name are slim thats why you need a referral. for fresh recruits big 4 usually like to get them straight from college so if you are out of college then you miss out on their recruiting events. Probably best shot is to get cpa then get 2 years with the biggest firm you can get into and then apply with big 4.
