REG: I did not know anything about the taxes (honestely, zero), and I had only 1.5 months to prepare. I guessed probably 50% of mcqs, I had no clue what they asked me to write about in the essay part, but I passed this exam on the first try.
FAR: Took very long time to prepare (it was the first part I took) because I didn't know what to expect. The exam was pretty easy, though, 4 hours almost killed me. I finished the exam with 1 minute to spare. At all other exams, I had at least 30 minutes left.
AUD: I just couldn't understand how the internal controls worked first time I took the exam. This was the only part that I had to retake. It wasn't difficult at all (tricky - yes), but it was the last part that I had to take, and I got too confident, didn't pay too much attention, and I failed by 3 points. I ended up with the highest score for me (out of all 4 parts) the second time around.
BEC: I studied economics, so it was almost a joke for me. It took around 2 weeks of preparation, and I finished exam with 1 hour left.

The worst thing about the exam is waiting for your score by far.

as far as difficulty:
AUD - REG - FAR - BEC

Here is why:
Audit is first because the material seam easiest, but the questions SUCK. you have a lot of the answers that are correct but you need to choose the most correct....!

Regulation, a lot of non typical accounting and lots of memorization.

FAR, a ton of material but passed pretty easily. It has been now 5+ years since i got out of college and found that i remembered a lot of the stuff classes.

BEC, i work for an IT company and i like economics, cake :)

Bottom line is after every test you will fell like sh... thinking you didn't pass. Just prepare diligently and you will do fine. All you need to know is in the book. Speaking of studying, I found that the most useful toll was practice questions and reading why a answer is right and why an answer is wrong

What is hardest depends on your life experiences. Your background and your interests make some sections hard or boring. These are my picks.

FAR was the hardest because there was SO much to remember. There have also been some changes in accounting since I graduated from college nearly 20 years ago.

AUD was second hardest because I have NO audit experience and was using one 3 week summer course back in 1992. I had to relearn all that stuff and felt completely out of my element.

REG was the second easiest for me. I did taxes for three seasons (Just H & R Block, but it still helped). My husband took Corporate Tax for his MBA and I helped a lot with it. It was good review right before preparing for REG. I adore Business Law. (Oh hush!) Pre-law was almost my major.

BEC was the easiest. I am married to an IT Administrator (not that it helped!) I minored in and have an interest in Economics so that seemed easier for me. My background right after college was in Finance, so again, it was something I at least understood the background in.
