I would vote for REG being more difficult; however, I think it also depends on your background. I have more experience with audit, so I use FAR more on a day to day basis. It took one month for me to study FAR. At work, I am just getting into tax, so I had a harder time with REG. As you can see, I've taken it 3 times already.

I thought REG was harder. When I took FAR, I left the exam feeling confident that I at least passed (didn't realize I had done so well), but after REG, I'm wondering if I did well enough to even pass. I'm not too fond of tax material to begin with (the business law part wasn't too bad), and the fact that the length of the exam is so short actually made me panic. I finished with an hour remaining when I took FAR; finished with only 20 minutes left when I took REG. I spent a longer time studying for FAR, but also because I had taken so many financial accounting classes in college, I felt much more prepared.

Being that I have yet to take a part, don't put much stock in my statements... but with that being said, the statistics show that Regulation is the hardest part because the least amount of people pass which I believe was 46% last window.

Obviously, some people are better at certain parts as apposed to others so this thread is prob. bias except the actual statistics provided.

Can somebody confirm that the test is not 2.5 hours but instead 3 hours..?

REG - 3 hours
BEC - 2.5 hours
AUD - 4.5 hours
FAR - 4 hours

FAR - BEC - AUD - REG

But i do traditional accounting work. Tax and audit so those sections were easy for me.

FARE was the most difficult section for me. The sheer scope of material that we are required to memorize for exam purposes and forget for work purposes.

BEC was next difficult simply becasue of the cost accounting. Never cared for cost accounting that much.

I squeeked by with a 76% for FAR and am happy with that.
