I say REG is more complex than FAR. FAR a lot of details but if you put time and effort, you'll get it...with REG a lot of legalistic stuff...sometimes it takes a lot to get the concepts....

I would say FAR is harder because of the sheer amount of information, but I was familiar with tax and law with REG, so I'm sure that background plays a large part in what you feel is harder for you as well.

It depends on your background and education. If you are an auditor then FAR shouldn't be that bad. A lot of information, especially govern. accounting, but it is stuff you see or research everyday at work. Therefore you are more familiar. Plus you have 4 hours to spend at the exam. REG is a nighmare if you have no tax experience. So many rules, exceptions, technical issues, numbers, no logic behind them. It seems that there is no logic, behind deducting expense type A, but not expense type B. Business law is somewhat easier than tax though (it is about memorization and critical judgement) Plus the time at REG is limited.

FAR is far and away the harder test. No contest here. I spent all summer, 6+ hours everyday just to prepare for it, and I still walked out of the exam feeling like I had failed it. I believe the questions in FAR are lengthier and more involving than REG. Memorization can take you a whole lot farther in REG as opposed to FAR where you actually have to grasp the concept to even have the slightest chance of answering the question correctly. I can't even imagine what study for FAR and working full time would be like...
