I'm from Maryland. The state board meets on the first Tuesday of each month and my manager mailed the application on the first Thursday of the month. So I had to wait a month. The day after the board met, I got the letter in the mail telling me to go online and pay my $20 fee to activate my license. A day or two later, I was able to go on the accountancy board's website and lookup my name in their database of Actice CPA's.
