I'm in a bit of a squeeze for Christmas this year.

First year associate here, I have a somewhat solid plan to tackle the CPA exam in 2011, except for this nice little speed bump:

Just got a letter from the California Board of Accountancy, stating that I only have 23 1/3 of the required 24 semester units of accounting courses!! (I came from a quarter system, which means I was 1 quarter unit short).

WOW. 2/3 unit short of requirement.

I looked over their calculation, and it seems that they didn't take into account of 1 class in which I was a Teaching Assistant to an accounting course (which I previously took). Is there a way to justify this?

I am planning an appeal. Just wondering, are there people out there with appeals experience, and what are my chances of getting through?

Some of the things that go in my favor are 1. The TA for accounting course, and 2. Abundance of other Economics course units.

Please help!

And Merry Christmas to all out there!

It's resolved...

The Board does not and will not change their decisions based on unit shortage (expected).

I started taking a quickbooks course online at a local junior college. Meh!

Hey

How much credit quickbook class will provide you?

You should check with California to confirm that they will accept an online
quickbooks course as credit. They should if the coursework shows up on an
accredited colleges transcripts but I recommend that you double check.
