I'm an associate in Assurance. There's no way to really prepare for what's to come (not to scare you). Obviously, as mentioned above, finishing the CPA exam is HUGE. But, in terms of the actual work, atmosphere, dynamics-- you just learn as you go.
Best thing to do is to relax every minute you can before starting. No need to do much more than that. But, develop good habits such as working out, eating healthy, etc b/c they will save you when you are at work at 12 am, stressed and pissed in your cubicle.
The most important part of the job is attitude I've realized. Everyone is slow at first and has no clue wtf they are doing. The people that are arrogant and know it all's, piss seniors/managers off. So, be humble and open to learning and kind to everyone. And, I mean everyone.
