TS isn't necessarily business valuation. Also CFA is pretty
narrow and will really only be of benefit in an equity
research role at an investment bank or maybe a hedge fund.
You'd be better off getting a top MBA if you're interesting
in pursuing a CFA related role. However, I think I may be
taking level 1 just to show that I have some technical
finance skills but don't plan on going any further into the
program.

Learn to read. Never did I say that valuation was TS. Get
CFA and go business valuation. Due Diligence on M&A
transaction is no different than audit.

I misunderstood - I thought you were saying that
valuation WAS TS.
With that said, what all do you know about business
valuation? Would CFA really help? What a ABV instead? I
looked up a couple senior Bis valuation profiles on
linkedin and the were in the "CFA institute" groups. This
obviously doesn't mean they are CFAs but just trying to
get an idea of how much weight they place on it. Would it
be more interesting than audit? I'm interested in the M&A
side of things but find I would likely only be placed
into a DD role which may or may not be better than audit.
Corp Fin. I believe is really out of the question given
the small size of the group.

CFA is the way to go for business valuation. Those valuations use common valuation methods like DCF/market comparable/etc. These are all heavily covered in in level 2 of the CFA curriculum. CFA is quite common for people in valuation.
M&A DD is nothing but auditing a M&A deal. Still boring audit at the end of the day. Go with valuation.
