For my class, I have some questions for a CPA:

How has having a CPA certification helped you do your job?

Has having a CPA helped you to obtain a job?

Do you belong to any local or national professional organizations

for CPA's?

If you are able to, can you please respond to my question.  I would love to know what positions to fill with my business accounting major.  Thank you!

Best regards,

missy

yes the cpa has helped in my current job.  it is a great way to understand how profits and cash flow and understand the integrity of the financials to make decisions.

cpa definitely opens doors for new jobs

yes belong to the local society of cpas to network and always have opportunities in front of you.

missy2g4t,
1. No. My opinion is that the CPA exam is too easy, and the CPA title is mostly image. Now, one year later, I don't remember even the simplest transactions. I don't know taxes (yeap, I use turboTax to file my taxes). I forgot everything I studied. However, I am a CPA. :-) Actually, I am specializing in auditing, so the AUD part of the exam I still remember. :-) I even try to study for the CIA.
2. Yes and no. I was chosen among other candidates because I had a CPA, but I got my job thanks to the networking.
3. I used to be a member of the AICPA. I canceled my membership after I passed the exam. Now, I am a member of AGA (government accountants).
