Hello everyone, Im planning to take up the CPA exam sometime in late 2008 or early 2009.
My background: Im a chartered accountant from India (qualified in Nov 2003) plus BCom (Ethiraj College) & MCom (Madras University correspondence). Post qualification, I worked for the Global Taxation services team in Ernst & Young (actually SRBC, the Indian affiliate firm) for 3.5 years. I moved to the US after marriage to join my husband and since then been unemployed for the last one year.
My questions:
1. Colorado State requires 12 months exp (either 5 years before or after the exam). Would my experience in EY count for obtaining the license? I remember reading somewhere that experience in an Big four accounting firm would qualify under the CO board - has anyone come across this? If so, can you provide the link?
2. Assuming it doesn't count, then with my CA, MCom etc - would I be eligible to apply for the Education in lieu of work experience as per rule 2.5 of the CO state board rules?
Thanks
