Hi,
My neighbor is friends with a partner at a Big 4 firm. He told me he is going
to talk with his friend and try to get me an interview. Has anyone gotten a
job through a connection at a big 4 firm? I am a recent graduate. My
grades were good not amazing 3.1 gpa, 3.2 within Major. I have some work
experience. I was under the impression they do all their hiring based on
campus interviews.

I have a friend who got a 4.0 GPA can not get a on campus interview of any of the big four firms, so I guess the connection is definitely helpful...........

My concern is that they do all their hiring ahead of time. So if I did get hired
I possibly will have to wait until I start. I would love to hear from other
people who work big 4. As it is right now I've been on 2 interviews at public
firms and havent gotten a call back. Is now the slow season? Do they do
more hiring come fall?

Most medium-large firms hire twice a year. Or once a year. Depends if you are in a big metro area or a smaller city.
In October or March for Jan. or August starts. All Big-4 hire in advance using budgets. Most likely you'd be waiting for Big-4. Less likely for small firms.
I'd say about 80% of hiring is done in Fall.

Thanks for the info. I really want a job in public but no one is hiring now. I
missed out on on-campus interviews. I live about 15 minutes away from
NYC. Do I still have a chance of landing with a public firm?
