I have an undergraduate degree in finance and just recently completed my MBA.  I am thinking about possibly studying and preparing to take the CPA exam.  However, I am concerned that I don't have any public experience.  Do I need to have public experience and will I need to have public experience(after exam) in order for the CPA to be a benefit to my career?  I am just not sure about what my options would be if I didn't go public after getting my CPA.  I am located on Massachusetts/New Hampshire border....so I could get certified in either state.

Experience is not at all required to sit and take the exam. But be prepare to face a very tough exam since you lack experience, much like myself.
