I want to know if I am eligible to apply for CPA exam in CA. If not anyone can recommend any other state. I dont work for a public accounting firm.

The CA CPA site says “24 semester units in accounting-related subjects”. I have no idea what “semester units” means and was wondering if you can recommend any institution which can evaluate my credentials quickly.

I have an engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from India, no accounting courses whatsoever.

I have an MBA in Finance from USA wherein I took 3 accounting courses and this is how it is depicted in my transcripts.

Financial accounting        &n bsp;       100 units

Financial Statement Analysis     100 units

Financial accounting        &n bsp;         100 units

(All quarters not semesters)

Your advice is highly anticipated and appreciated.

Rakesh.

That's hard to say, how many courses did you take in each of financial accounting and financial statement analysis? Could you maybe phone your MBA institution and ask what 100 units is equal to in terms of standard graduate semester/credit hours?
